Nigerian Real Estate Firms' Love of Using Movie Stars As Brand Ambassadors.

Real estate has become one of the most lucrative and fastest growing industries in Nigeria, Africa's most populous country. This is hardly surprising in view of the rapid population growth in the country. Nigeria presently has an estimated population of 200 million!
In order to provide shelter for this teeming population, real estate agents and companies are increasing. Adron Homes, Haggai Homes, etc are some of these real estate companies.
A recent tendency among these real estate companies is the use of Nollywood stars as brand ambassadors. Funso Adeolu, Odunlade Adekola, Saheed Balogun, Jide Kosoko, and Mide Martins are some of the movie stars whose wallets have been fattened by these real estate companies thanks to the brand ambassadorial contracts they signed.
Undoubtedly, there is an economic angle to this recent trend. It is a win-win situation for both parties.
How? The real estate firms apparently get more clients by employing these movie stars as brand ambassadors. The movie stars also smile to the banks by signing the mouth-watering contracts.

Pitch Clients With Phone Calls

In pitching for prospective clients in digital marketing or brand management, use of phone calls is often preferable to the sending of Emails by some digital marketing agencies.
This is perfectly in order. Phone calls have human face to it. When you make calls, you will be able to clearly explain the reason for the call and do the necessary follow-up. In the course of the phone calls, the prospective clients can ask you to develop a proposal which you are to send to their Emails.
Needless to say, appropriate tone must be employed all through the conversation. Have sufficient airtime on your phone and don't sound as if you are in a hurry to complete the call.

Why You Need Physical Location For Your Digital Marketing and Branding Business

It is an axiomatic fact that digital marketing business is growing in leaps and bounds across the globe. According to a recent research, it will be worth $200 billion by 2020 in the USA alone!
Phenomenal! You can say that again.
Its remarkable growth is hardly surprising in view of the fact that we are now at the digital age.
Without doubt, one of the major reasons for the impressive growth of digital marketing business is the proliferation of digital marketing agencies across the globe. In Nigeria alone, digital marketing agencies are springing forth per minute per second. Unfortunately, however, many unemployed graduates lashed into the business without learning the rudiments of the profession! Another story for another day.
The high number of digital marketing agencies splattered across the globe can be attributed to the relative ease of establishing the business. You don't need to have an MBA to know that the easier it is to set up a business, the higher the number of people dabbling into the business. To start a digital marketing agency, it is compulsory for you to have a website. The more impressive your  website is, the better for you.
According to a school of thought, you don't need to have a brick and mortar office before you can set off your digital marketing and branding agency.  'You can easily operate from home, 'so goes the cliche. Of course, you can operate from home. Cases abound of business empires who started by operating from home, and then foamed bigger than the founder's imagination. Walmart, the American multinational retain corporation started off by operating from home. Evans Brother Limited, one of the world's biggest book publishing company commenced operation in 1903 when two brothers, Robert and Edward Evans converted a room of their flat apartment at 118, Newgate Street, London to a publishing company. We can go on and on.
However, in order to be taken very seriously by your prospective clients  and even present clients, a digital marketing and branding agency needs a physical office. As a matter of fact, some clients will insist on discussing business with you in your office.
As a digital marketing and branding agent, having an office must be put in priority.

Signature Storytelling Vs Tactical Storytelling In Branding

A tactical story is when a story is employed in marketing a brand. However, when a story is used strategically to generate a brand energy, it becomes a Signature Story.
A signature story grabs attention, creates emotional connection between the brand and the clients, and delivers a clear message to the viewers, regardless of the language use. It  makes a brand visible. It also helps to strategically communicate the basic essence of the brand or organisation.

Brand Management Agency Fundamental Principles

Brand Management is the activity of supervising the promotion of a particular brand of goods or even persons. In marketing, brand management is the analysis and planning of how a brand is perceived in the market.
Brand strategists or managers work assiduously towards ensuring that the clients' marketing goals align with their business goals. The brand must be unique, focused, simple, has visual appeals, and is applied consistently across all channels. Brand management has certain fundamental principles.
1. Leverage Your Unique Selling Proposition: Your value proposition differentiates your product or service from other brands.Creation of your unique selling proposition (USP) requires a great deal of hard work and research. Define clearly what differentiates the product from its competition. USP is one of the factors responsible for GLO Mobile's phenomenal success in the Nigerian telecommunication sector. No sooner had the GLO Mobile joined the sector than it introduced per second billing, which the existing networks were yet to introduce. The singular action endeared it with the masses. It gained huge popularity, and immediately gave the existing networks a run for their money.
2. Choose Appropriate Medium and Means: Market your brand by choosing the appropriate medium and means. Content marketing and social media marketing are veritable media of marketing your brand.
3.Internal Development of Brand: Charity, they say, begins at home. You must evolve your brand from the inside. All your employees are your brand ambassadors. Every department in your organisation must represent your brand in all communication with customers and clients.
4. Device Means to Circulate Your Brand: Leave no stone unturned to ensure that influencers circulate your brand. Let someone else also market your brand for you.
This is known as third person effect. It is pivotal to brand management.

Latest Digital Marketing Stats

According to a recent research from Searchmetrics, "websites with a heavy focus on video content were some of the biggest winners in organic search performance on Google in 2018. YouTube won resoundingly, with a 79% increase in search performance in 2018.
Using Nigeria as a case study, there has been a steady increase in Nigerians' use of YouTube over the years. This, according to Pendrof Blog research, can be attributed to the new marketing strategy devised by Nollywood movie producers and marketers to market newly released movies. One of their greatest marketing strategies lately is to upload newly released movies on YouTube. The idea is gaining wide currency, and viewers across the globe have been able to watch newly released movies on YouTube.

Apart from YouTube, other sites like Fox, PPC, and the BBC are top gainers.
Amazingly, another recent trend is the underestimating of  customer loyalty among marketers. A recent survey conducted by Greenlight Digital has demonstrated that a disturbingly high number of marketers are underestimating customers' loyalty. This necessitates the need for marketers to learn more how customers' loyalty is displayed. Customers display their loyalty by recommending products or services to family and friends or by continued purchase.

Why Your Company Needs A Blog To Complement Its Website

Many companies and business owners have the erroneous belief that their website is sufficient enough to reach out to the world what they offer the public. That is, having a business or company blog is a mere duplication of efforts which will not necessarily impact positively on their business.
This is far from the truth.
Every business or company compulsorily requires a website to network with the world. "Your network is your net-worth,'' says Tim Ferriss.
In addition to the website, every company needs a company or corporate blog. A corporate blog is a blog that is published by an organization or corporation to reach its organisational goals. It presents a great opportunity and outlet not only for a company to establish its industry expertise, but also to extend its audience through social sharing. Experience has shown that blog posts can even invest a company with some Return On Investment (ROI).

One of the reasons for the reluctance of many companies to maintain a company blog is that blogging (serious, consistent blogging I mean)  is generally time-consuming, and the maddeningly busy schedule of a company may not give room for it.
Well, a company can assign the task to an employee. He or she will be charged with the task of regularly updating the blog. The game is worth the candle.
Digital presence is vital to the growth of any company. Every avenue to maximise it must be explored.

Direct Marketing Types

Wikipedia defines Direct Marketing as " a form of advertising where organisations communicate directly to customers through a variety of media including cell phone text messaging, email, websites, online adverts, database marketing, fliers, etc.
In this post, some of the various forms of direct marketing will be discussed.
1. Telephone Marketing:  This is using the telephone to make direct sales to customers and consumers. It is a major direct marketing communication tool in the USA, the UK, and some other developed countries. However, it is not particularly popular in Nigeria, Ghana, and most African countries. This is most probably due to the fact that African countries don't view it as an economical method of marketing. Properly designed and smartly targeted telemarketing provides immense benefits to companies and even customers.
2. Catalog Marketing: This is a sales technique employed by businesses to group many items together in a printed peace or an online store. It is geared towards selling at least one item to the recipient. Once consumers are interested in the product or goods for sale, they buy directly from the catalog sender by telephone, return envelope or online using the information in the catalog. Catalog marketing has witnessed a phenomenal growth during the past 40 years especially in the USA, the UK, and the Peoples Republic of China. This is as a result of advances in technology, and the internet wave sweeping across the globe like a tsunami. As at 2018, annual catalog sales reportedly amounted to $300 billion.
3. Direct-Mail Marketing: This is a type of direct marketing in which businesses send letters, postcards, or other promotional materials to past, current, or potential customers or clients. It involves sending an offer, announcement, reminder, or other items to a person at a particular address. Using highly selective mailing lists, direct marketers send out millions of mail pieces annually. Direct mail campaigns may be targeted to either a consumer or business or both.

4. Kiosk Marketing: This is when companies place information and ordering machines called kiosks in airports, shops, and other strategic locations. According to Investopedia, a kiosk is "a small, temporary, stand-alone booth used in high-traffic areas for marketing purposes." Kiosk marketing is remarkably popular in the USA. Car Max, Hallmark and American Greetings and Kodak are some of the businesses which have successfully employed kiosk marketing.

Customer Perceived Value

Attracting and retaining customers by any company, seller, or service provider can be a daunting task. It is one of the major reasons any company which is determined to stay in business must necessarily have a marketing department. Not only that, the marketing unit must be taken with utmost level of seriousness.
Some people have the proclivity to treat marketers with contempt. I pity their ignorance! In a subsequent blog post, this issue will be addressed. Our focus in this post is the concept of customer perceived value.
Customer perceived value can simply be described as the customer's evaluation of the difference between all the benefits and all the costs of a marketing offer relative to those of competing offers.
One of the major reasons it is difficult to attract and retain customers is the high number of products and services which customers can choose from. Customers are spoilt for choice! In the Nigerian banking sector, for instance, customers have the choice of Guaranty Trust Bank, Zenith Bank, Access Bank, Polaris Bank, etc to choose from.In the GSM sector, customers have the choice of networks from GLO Mobile, MTN, ZAIN, etc.
Typically, a customer buys from, or patronises a firm/company that offers the highest customer perceived value.
Interestingly, customers can be highly subjective or inaccurate in their evaluation of a product's values and costs. They act on perceived value. For example, if Bank X and Bank Y promise quality services to customers, what determines who enjoy a higher patronage is the customers' perceived values of the two banks.
Without doubt, customer perceived value is one of the complexities and intricacies of marketing that the marketing unit of every firm has to deal with.
