Come Saturday, 16 February, 2018, Nigerians will go out enmasse to vote for the President of their choice who will pilot the affairs of this nation for the next four years. Without mincing words, it is strictly a battle of titans between the incumbent President Muhammadu Buhari of APC, and Abubakar Atiku of PDP. These two contestants are so formidable that the Presidency reportedly once described other contestants as "political dwarfs." This description is not in any way derogatory. It is the stark reality. It is evident.
Contrary to popular opinion, branding is not restricted to products, goods, and services. Branding plays a major role in the lives of people. Oscar Wilde, in his bestselling play, An Ideal Husband, states that "nobody is rich enough to buy his past." The above statement depicts what will affect the brands of Buhari and Atiku, and determine their presidential fates. Their pasts!
Let's see how events unfold on Saturday.
